Users will wake up to a new version of the very useful Blackmagic Camera app on the iPhone this morning.
The Blackmagic Camera app is a rightly popular bit of software for mobile filming, and the latest v1.3 passed all its various Apple tests and hit the servers overnight (or at least it did here, anyway). Here's everything that's new, with both support for audio monitoring on connected earphones and support for rack focus controls in the camera adding some fairly beefy new capabilities.
• Support for audio monitoring on connected earphones.
• Support for rack focus controls in the camera.
• Support for 48mm lens on iPhone 14 Pro and 15 Pro.
• Smoother animations when switching between landscape and portrait.
• Faster project listing in media tab.
• Reduced latency for HDMI video feeds.
• Name, reel, scene and take now display over
HDMI during recording.
• General performance and stability improvements.
Stay tuned for more from the company on Friday. We know some of what will be in Grant Petty's NAB update and it's all rather jaw-dropping.
